Video-Sound Installation, Work-in-progress.
A metaphorical exploration of the convergence and collision of three cultures. Text from the Torah, Old and New Testament and Koran in Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Arabic are animated to the sound of liturgical chants from these three traditions.
The essence of the complicated history of Judaism, Christianity and Islam will be embodied in animated calligraphy with interacting patterns based on historical data. At times the texts will be harmonious, moving gracefully together. At other times, the texts will be circumspect and distant or in conflict and disarray. Narration and text in English will guide viewers through the experience. Work-in-progress.
